I don't hate vests.

Every once in a while you'll play a game where it works on every level and before you realize it, it is now 4am, your girlfriend is angry, your homework is not done and you feel more satisfied and exhausted than any sexual marathon. This game is none other than sleeper hit, Left4Dead.

Left4Dead is an amazing game all across the spectrum, minus a few [key] elements, and it can appeal to almost every kind of 'gamer', from genre to hardcore level. It has a simple concept that is made into a more complex and challenging object to the point that it almost seems to come alive at a touch and suck you in.

The characters lack any real explanation aside from names and physical clues to their [personal] lives through dialog or outfits: this does not limit the player's fun in the slightest. Each character has said something throughout the course of the game that sticks clearly in my mind, and still makes me laugh every time I think about it. I personally enjoy playing as Francis, a pissed off biker who hates everything, small towns, doctors, lawyers, stairs, ayn rand... but you know what he doesn't hate? "I don't hate vests." The idea of the game is simplicity itself; get from point A to point B. You start at a single location, usually the previous level's safe-house, and you have to venture across a stretch of land in order to reach the next safe-house. Herein lies the addictiveness of this game; the concept is so simple in theory, but in practice it gets WAY harder.

Mothafucking Zombies!

There are your regular zombies, and 'special' mutated zombies. Your regular zombies come in hordes and stragglers, your special zombies are each gifted with a specific ability/mutation that makes them excellent for killing humans in different ways.

The zombies really shine through when you're playing versus mode; 4 people are human, 4 people are special zombies. Its best with friends, because then you hear your teammates and enemies talking shit and screaming about zombies, all the while giggling to yourself because its YOU they're screaming about about as you eat somebody's face. Really though, it was their own damn fault since they left the pack.

The graphics are great, the game mechanics are awesome, everything about this game is awesome. The only problems I can find with this game are there is no real character or story development, the special zombies all look alike and the game is actually TOO fun. And sometimes its kinda really spooky.
